Point #1 -Rynek Główny (Main Market Square)

The largest medieval square in Europe and the center of Krakow life for over 700 years. Surrounded by colorful townhouses, it hosts markets, events, and the famous Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) in the middle.

Point #2 – Cloth Hall (Sukiennice)

Pass the Renaissance Cloth Hall right in the square’s center. Built in the 13th century and rebuilt after fire, it was once the main trading place for cloth and goods – today it houses souvenir shops and an art gallery upstairs.

Point #3 – St. Mary’s Basilica

View the stunning Gothic St. Mary’s Basilica from outside. Famous for its two unequal towers and the hourly trumpet signal (hejnał) played from the higher tower, it holds the beautiful Veit Stoss altarpiece inside.

Point #4 – Town Hall Tower

See the remaining Gothic Town Hall Tower standing alone in the southwest corner of the square. The rest of the medieval town hall was demolished in the 19th century, but the tower still offers a clock and small museum.

Point #5 – Pope John Paul II Window

Drive past the famous window on ulica Kanonicza where Pope John Paul II appeared many times during his visits to Kraków.

Point #6 – Florian Gate & Barbican area

Pass near the Florian Gate – the only surviving gate from the old city walls – and the round Barbican fortress. This was the main northern entrance to medieval Krakow, protecting the city from invaders.

Point #7 – Matejko Square (Plac Matejki)

Drive past Matejko Square, one of the most symbolic open spaces in Kraków. This large square features the famous Grunwald Monument honoring the 1410 victory over the Teutonic Knights, the Academy of Fine Arts building, and the Barbican in the background.

Point #8 – Wawel Hill & Royal Castle area

Drive past Wawel Hill, the historic heart of Kraków and former seat of Polish kings. View the imposing Wawel Royal Castle from outside – a symbol of Polish statehood with its Renaissance courtyard, Gothic cathedral, and dragon legend.

Point #9 – Juliusz Słowacki Theatre

Drive past the impressive Juliusz Słowacki Theatre on Plac Świętego Ducha. This grand neo-Renaissance building, opened in 1893, is one of Kraków’s most beautiful theaters and a landmark of Polish cultural life.

Point #10 – Planty Park

Drive along the edge of Planty Park – Kraków’s beautiful green belt that encircles the entire Old Town. Created in the early 19th century on the site of the former city walls and moats, this ring of gardens, paths, fountains, and benches offers a peaceful contrast to the historic center.
